Prof. Dr. Şener Oktik is a distinguished scientist internationally and nationally recognized for his pioneering work in applied physics, electronics, and photovoltaic technologies. He earned his PhD in 1982 from Durham University in the United Kingdom. In addition to his academic career, Prof. Oktik has held senior positions in university administration, industry collaboration, and technology development.
Serving as Rector of Muğla University from 2002 to 2010, Prof. Dr. Oktik was among the early researchers in Turkey to initiate studies in the field of photovoltaic materials, devices, and systems. The Muğla University Clean Energy Resources Research and Development Center, which he founded, has hosted leading research activities in this area.
Playing an active role in strengthening academia–industry collaboration, Prof. Dr. Oktik has served as a senior expert, technologist, and executive in numerous national and international industrial organizations. He held the position of President of Research and Technological Development at the Şişecam Group from 2012 to 2020, and served as a Member of the Şişecam Board of Directors from 2020 to 2024.
With over one hundred scientific publications and international patents, Prof. Dr. Oktik continues his academic work at Maltepe University and remains actively involved in managerial and advisory roles within national and international scientific organizations.
